Breed standard:
The Friesian Horse is noble and Extreamly Elegant. The horses also have abundant feathering on their fetlocks, along with majestic arched necks and Full flowing tails.
Friesians horses are extremely muscular, with a natural topline but are also very agile,They are a very hardy horse and benifit
from a blue horn type hoof, they have a high stepping gait which most horse owners love to see.
They should have clear warm intelligent eyes and small alert ears with Tips pointing slightly toward each other.
good bone all round and with a want to be with you Nature.
MOVEMENT - The Walk is straight, vigorous and springy.
The trot is a reaching and forward movement with power from the hindquarters.
The canter is well supported and lively with sufficient power from the hindquarters and flexion in the hock.
All Friesian horses are allowed to have an Inbreeding Co-efficient of no more than 12%, although less is better. It is desirable to have less than 5% less than
2% can be very difficult to come by, though not impossible.
Strict judging process held annually. Horses judged on conformation - 40%, movement - 60%. Keurings are where horses can be awarded premie's, star status etc.
Awarded to top 1%. Have to be at least 7 years of age. Based on conformation, movement and performance. Takes 2 years to achieve.
Grading of horse's Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother
Awarded to a mare who has 4 or more offspring who have received Ster status or to a Stallion who has a high percentage of Ster/Model daughters or Approved Stallion sons.
Best quality horses are awarded premies (premium). A 1st Premie is the highest awarded to the top 5% of horses presented. A 2nd Premie follows to the top 15% and a 3rd Premie to the top 25%.
